Words cannot express how much this session meant to me. I have known Kelsey since 3rd grade, and she blessed me with the opportunity of taking her college graduation portraits. For me, it is like the same honor as getting asked to be a bridesmaid (and she was one of mine, so it works out). This girl works so hard at everything she does. She is going to be a teacher and I am positive that she will touch the lives of so many students. Her joy and passion for her field is evident, and I am so very, very proud!
I remember touring Longwood when we were all looking for colleges, and it is so surreal to walk the grounds again in search of pretty spots for these portraits. It was not difficult to find these spots, as Longwood's campus is so lovely. I have a soft-spot for small colleges with charm. And yes, she did splash around in the fountain because she's a graduate and she has a right!
As Kelsey is graduating with a major in history, it was only a matter of time before she found herself in love with the musical Hamilton. Her cap is a representation of one of the BEST songs in the play, and we were even able to throw in an Alexander Hamilton pose into the shoot (you're welcome, Hamilton fans).
Overall, I had the best time with my best friend. I am excited to see what she will bring to the world, and I am thrilled to play a part in her inspiring life.
And as Washington sings in Hamilton, "I know that greatness lies in you, but remember from here on in that history has its eyes on you."
Congratulations to Longwood's graduating class of 2017!
